Juan Andrés Mercado is Professor of Applied Ethics at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross (Rome) and has been the vice director of Markets, Culture and Ethics Research Centre (MCE), of the same University since its creation in 2008 until September 2016.

Founded the online Encyclopaedia of Philosophy "Philosophica" (in Spanish) with Francisco Fernández Labastida.

Nowadays is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal "Acta Philosophica" of the School of Philosophy of the same Pontifical University of the Holy Cross.
